1 Barn Owl hunting to south of the telephone box at Eagland Hill, 0730 hrs.
1 Buzzard sitting on top of a low thorn hedge, harassed by 2 crows, near Windy Harbour traffic lights, at 09.30.
7+ Twite  with 80+ Linnets at Lytham on saltmarsh, 250yds E of slipway opposite Seafield Road 1015hrs.

Starr Gate 1200-1240: 1 Razorbill north, 2 RT Divers, c20 GC Grebes. c150 Common Scoter.
Bradshaw Lane:  11 Corn Buntings. 45 Tree Sparrow, 11 Yellowhammer, and 18 Chaffinch at Bradshaw Lane F.S.1256 hrs. 134 Greenfinch on wires over the sunflower field, Eagland Hill.

Cockersands- Bank End: 12 Twite, 5 Tree Sparrows & 1 Merlin.

Bradshaw Lane Feeding Stn:  30 Tree Sparrows & 6 Corn Buntings.

Myerscough Quarry: 1 Peregrine, 19 Siskin, 1 Kingfisher, 5 Goosander flew-over and a rough count of c.200 Stock Dove seen briefly in flight towards the back of the site. High number of Tree Sparrow heard but not seen just outside the site.
Starr Gate1015- 1320: 20 Red throated Divers, 59 G.C Grebes, 2 Razorbill, 300--400 Common Scoter, 2 Whoopers Swans & 2m 3f Shoveler in flight.

Starr Gate: 1m and 1f Velvet Scoter -  9.30 flew in and landed with Common Scoter south of the sea wall. 1 m Goosander south 0840, c2000 Common Scoter south, 7 Razorbills, 1 auk sp, 4 RT Diver & 4 Pintail.
Warton Bank over high tide: 1 Water Pipit on fenceposts, 1 Brambling in orchard, 1 Goldcrest, 1 Grey Wag. 
1 Peregrine flew south-easterly over Myerscough Quarry am. 1 female Goosander also present.

87 Whooper Swans (4 juvs) and 22 Bewicks (2 juvs), Shaws Lane, Pilling. Bewick with blue neck collar 809P, appeared to be paired with an unringed bird.
c80 Bewicks near Ivy Farm, Lytham - flew off before counted. 1 neck collar Adult 138U ( not 3BU as earlier reported ). 
2,600 Pinks near Hi Fly hatchery with 2 neck collars. 1st AHC , 2nd too far away to read. 
2,000 Pinks on Horse Paddock Lane by the duck pond. 1 collar FHY + another too distant to read. 
32 Whoopers + 6 Bewicks at Ream Hills. 
50+ Whoopers & 10+ Berwick's on Burnt House Lane.
Peregrine & f Merlin at Lane Ends.

Warton Bank: 1 Water Pipit and 1 Scandinavian Rock Pipit in with 3-4 pipits which came in close with the tide & 1 ringtail Hen Harrier at 11.00 - 11.45 hunting over the saltings to the east of Bank Lane,  5 Short eared Owls ( one mobbed harrier), 1 f. Merlin, 2 Sparrowhawks, 1 m. Bullfinch (with flock of Reed Buntings), Water Rail heard, lots of winter thrushes.

Fairhaven: 1 Purple Sandpiper on the sea wall at opposite the lake but flushed at 11:20hrs & c3 Rock Pipits (dispersed), 1 Chiffchaff, 1 G.S. Woodpecker, 2+ Goldcrests, light Skylark passage.

Ream Hills - 1 Common Buzzard on field & 34 Whooper Swans on lake.

Staining: c500 Pinkfeet on fields to west but flew off at 1320hrs.

Ringed as a juvenile when about 30-35 days old at S. Walney nature reserve (SD 2162 or 54.03N - 03.12W) on 8.07.2000.
This gull has also been reported at a rubbish tip in Badajoz, Spain  (38.53N - 06.58W) on 07.01.01  

and at a tip at Gloucester (SO 8217 or > 51.51N - 02.17W) on 22 and 28.11.01.

68 Whoopers at Naze Point, initially outside the Fylde, but when shooting commenced 62 flew west 

up the Ribble and the other six went north over the Naze Pool.
